[ Character's Name ] : Sheena Fujibayashi
[ Character's Age ] : 20
[ Series ] : Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Symphonia 2
[ Canon Point ] : Post-Symphonia, pre-2

[ History ] :
Sheena Fujibayashi of Mizuho's Igaguri Style.
Before Sheena's venture to Sylvarant, she had a certain brief interaction with a certain foolish Chosen. ...It ended with lots of shouting, misunderstandings, the word "dating" getting thrown here and there, and pain. Mostly on Zelos' end because Sheena does not pull her punches.

[ Personality ] :
Tsu. N. De. Re. Sheena's kind of got that down. She's kind and gentle deep down, but her experiences have led to her being a bit on the unpleasant side. She's certainly earned her nickname as the "Violent Banshee" that Zelos gave her. It's not all her fault, though. At the age of seven, Sheena failed to establish a pact with the Summon Spirit of Lightning. It's not bad enough that she was effectively the last summoner in all of Tethe'alla as far as anyone was aware, but the tragedy that followed left a deep and lasting impact on how she'd live her life from that point on. The simple fact that she could summon already made her different from her adopted home of Mizuho--it meant she had in her veins the blood of elves. Being responsible for so many deaths simply ostracized her further. As such, Sheena developed a very unhealthy defense mechanism: she shuns people. No matter that she sent all the money she earned from the research lab back to Mizuho, she simply refused to let people get close. She feels she's bad luck, and that anyone who comes near her will surely suffer some kind of harm and she'll lose them, too.

This mindset is based on her own fear, her own ability to overcome the trauma left behind by Volt. Her grandfather comatose and the weight of so many deaths on her shoulders, she falters where important decisions come into play. This wars with her strong sense of right and wrong, and her altruistic side. She doesn't expect forgiveness for the tragedy with Volt, but she wants to help those who have suffered anyway. She protects the weak and helps people with all she has because it's the right thing to do. Upon getting to know Colette, she couldn't bring herself to carry out the assassination because she finds that Colette is a good person and simply too kind and sweet to actually want to hurt. Her indecisiveness also comes into play with her confidence. Sheena lacks a lot of self-confidence, sometimes over-focusing to make up for it--and ending up in almost comically clumsy situations that are thought of as being terrible luck.

Sheena, for much of her development into a more willing individual and even confident, doesn't even like herself. She thinks of herself as a failure, and is desperate to prove she has some kind of worth while not even really believing it herself. She wants to do the right thing. She doesn't want to be so lonely. She just can't find any sort of good reason for any of it. When people flaunt and show off, she can't stand it. It eats at her withered confidence and her lack of self-worth (and the fact that she doesn't even think of herself as particularly pretty). She lashes out (and this isn't helped by the fact that she's actually fairly hot-blooded, either). Zelos gets the brunt of this behaviour as she's known him, has a teeny bit of a grudge against him, and he does this whole showing-off thing absolutely obnoxiously. It hurts to see people just parade around like that when, in her mind, she... has nothing. She has nothing to contribute. Nothing to offer. No point. She has so little faith in herself, that all the pacts in the world can't bring her out of it completely. It's easy to pick yourself up a ways when you're starting at the bottom.

Another trait Sheena carries is her cowardice. Yep, she's a coward. She has a hard time with fear, and it's actually Zelos who teaches her what to do with it: suck it up, stuff it somewhere, and do it anyway. She nearly runs away from the idea of forming the pacts with the Summon Spirits because she's flat-out too scared. Lloyd and the others helped her, but that's the only reason she could do it at all. She feeds on the confidence of her friends, really, to help her get through a lot of things. When she's on her own, she remembers it and bottles up things to keep them out of her way. She forces her way through her fear as best she can. She puts up a brave front every time, but... Things don't change overnight, and sometimes it can take years. It's doubtful that she'll completely get past the failed pact with Volt, even if she succeeded the second time. It's too ingrained, too powerful an event. She's better, though. Better than she was before.

On confidence, it's a trait she admires in Lloyd greatly. He's confident, but he's humble and honest. He lives earnestly, and she likes that. A lot, in fact; it's all part of why she has a crush on him. She wants to emulate that, surround herself with it. She's alright without it, but she'd really like it. She thinks Colette's a better match for him, but that doesn't change her feelings.

Sort of running counter to all of those problems is Sheena's honest kindness. She's drawn to doing the right thing, showing kindness to strangers and defending a town in the declining world--the world she's sent to in order to kill the Chosen and thus ultimately destroy. And she can't even do that, kindness coupled with her indecisiveness when something isn't clearly right or wrong swaying her resolve (after meeting the crew, of course; she's resolute at first because she thinks she's doing the right thing). Sometimes, it leaves her at a disadvantage: unable to complete her mission because she sees the kindness in Colette and empathizes with it so strongly that she just... Can't, for instance. It becomes wrong in Sheena's eyes. At heart, Sheena is a font of compassion and earnestness; she wants to do what's right and what's best for the people around her.

[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
-Self-doubt- This and low confidence pervade Sheena's life and generally make things harder. In fact, it can even cripple her if the conditions are right.
-Bad Luck- ...well, more that she lets her doubt and lack of confidence cloud her judgment and give her tunnel vision so she misses things while trying to compensate.
-Indecisive- Brought on also by doubt; is she doing the right thing? Is this best?
-Cowardly- She'll run away from a problem where she can, which also means she doesn't bring up things she might need to
-Guard- Sheena generally has low defenses: in combat and in personality. ...when she's not covering it up by being hot-tempered or cold, that is.

+Flexibility- She'll bend the rules to her own devices if she finds she needs to
+A different kind of flexibility- Sheena is also fairly adept at improvising and planning on the fly, switching gears as needed
+Combat- Sheena's limber, which adds onto her combat abilities, alongside acrobatic leaps and agile fighting style
+Summoner- Sheena has a very rare talent in her world: she can summon forth the embodiments of the elements, of creation, of the wisdom of the world. She can call on them to fight for her, or she can use their mana to imbue weapons with their traits. It won't help her in Vatheon, though.

[ Other Important Facts ] :

[ Sample ] :
Sheena Fujibayashi: summoner, Mizuho's next chief, and ambassador of peace to the country of Sylvarant. Someone with a challenging future ahead of her, but who'd already come from many more trying challenges before. She faced trials daily, particularly when associating with certain redheads and maybe briefly just shortly lamenting an unrequited crush. Just a little. It wasn't unreasonable, after all. It was hardly the most difficult of things she had to deal with, anyway.

...

Sheena Fujibayashi: well-acquainted with falling down holes.

Truth be told, she should have expected this. With a groan, the young woman gingerly sat up, hand to her head as she surveyed her surroundings. This... didn't look like any pit-at-the-bottom-of-a-hole she'd ever seen before. Maybe it'd been some kind of an entrance. Except... that... That was a fish. And so was that. And that was a much bigger fish. And that was a sea jelly. And she was definitely underwater, and her clothes and hair were definitely soaked.

With a yelp, Sheena threw herself back, mind reeling, and managed to miss her feet entirely when she landed. So that left her staring at the wall of seawater, on her ass. She didn't have a phobia of the water like some people she knew (funny, because she could be a real cold fish at times--not that Sheena really had a problem with her anymore), but discovering yourself in an underwater location was definitely unnerving. Especially since it didn't look like there was any way she could have fallen down here. No vertical tunnel or anything!

"I really hope this wasn't some kinda angel base." Because warp pads were all that came to mind to explain how she got here. "Since without Derris-Kharlan, there's probably not enough mana here to get me back..." That was a frightening thought. She didn't want to be stuck here without any way to get home. She had people to protect and lead! Peace to help keep up! She couldn't just... be stuck here... "Th-there's probably a way back," she mumbled, standing up and absently dusting herself off. "There's gotta be."

And so for about 20 minutes, she wandered around the plaza she'd found herself in. All it got her was a lot of vague answers, a couple towels, and a brochure. Real helpful. She hadn't bothered looking through the brochure yet, more interested in being grumpy for the moment. Stupid holes, stupid clumsiness, stupid underwater city. She had things she needed to be doing! ...and not here...
